The BBD event in Zolder last week brought some nice racing action and my XB2 was on point from the very first practice run until the last final.
Once again, I had to get back to racing on different handout tires, so some setup adjustments had to be made. At this event I chose to run the HUDY wheels, which have different offset in the front, which is a crucial information to work with and the track width had to be adjusted with different wheel hexes.

As the carpet in Zolder was only one race old, the traction at the beginning was quite high, but slowly went down throughout the two days of racing.

After the first practice, I felt the car had way too much steering and the rear end was rolling too much. I decided to put an extra layer of CA glue on the front tires to calm the front end down, and remove a shim on the rear link to make it longer in order to calm the rear end down as well. This resulted in much easier-to-drive car and allowed me to go even faster.

As traction was still very high, I made some changes to help free up the rear end of the car, so I ended up going to 5dot rear spring, to help with the rear end stability and on-power steering. This was a great choice as it allowed me to push a bit more and improve my lap times, without the rear end rolling too much. One great change to get more corner speed from the car was also laying down front and rear shocks by one hole.

For 2nd-run-used tires, I knew I had to adapt the car setup to still keep the traction and corner speed. Even though we had unlimited tire sets, I always ran 3 runs on a set. As I mentioned in my previous tech reports, an easy change to get more traction from the car is removing screws from the rear chassis brace or side guards. For the worn tires, I decided to remove the very first and the very last screw on the side guards to generate more flex. These changes helped me stay competitive in the final runs, where I managed to stay close with Jorn and take a dominant win in A3 to secure my overall 2nd position.
