Here is the setup for my XRAY XB2C 25 from DieHard RC RUG CHAMPS
After some mistakes of my own making and some bad luck on qualifying day. I really wanted to reset both my car and my mood for mains day.
Back in the old Yokomo YZ2 days I found that Lee Martin's setups were a great starting point, and I decided to put his TORCH 25 setup on my XB2C as a starting point, which I have posted here as well. Much like back with the YZ2, I knew the setup would not be perfect at the grip level varies a ton between tracks and carpet types and the grip at DieHard RC was CRAZY high. Lee is also running the 5gear and I am running the 3gear.
Quick rundown of the changes I made over mains day and my thinking for doing so.
Increased the wheelbase as the car had more than enough rotation and I wanted to make it more stable at the end of the straight.
It was clear when I went out during morning practice that the car had a crazy amount of rear grip, both forward and side.
I raised the diff height, lengthened the rear link on the hub side to shed some grip and took 2mm of shims out from under the rear inner ball stud to raise the roll center a little bit to keep the car quick in the transitions. I have also found that increased rear link angle can help the car square up on throttle, which really helped going into the rollercoaster. |
