EB410 Hinge pin Modification
With medium hard crashes and after a couple of times doing that, the front hinge pins bent! The arms then come loose from the chassis. The first time i had this issue i noticed that not only the pin was bent but also the hole in the arm was worn a bit. First i made the pin back so strait as possible a couple of times. When it happens and you reuse the arm, the pins begin to bent faster and faster, also with brand new pins. The best way is when you have a bent pin, replace the pin and arm?? Really expensive after a couple of times.
Now i decided to try replacing the 3mm pin with a selfmade 3.5 pin :-). The first thing i did was drilling the block in the front brace to see of there was enough plastic left after drilling. I think 4mm is to much here :-)
With no hobbyshop in the neighborhood i decided to go see what a selfmade store could have that i could use with diam 3.5mm. The nails they had bending to fast, the only other thing i could find was a quality screwdriver. I bought 2 for 4.5euro. I cut the pins the right size out of the screwdriver shaft, drilled the arms and spacers. Perfect fit! Now lets hope the new hinge pins are a little stronger, If so then i replace all the pins from the back and my second car! Sunday i can tell how it went.
If you drive on a indoor carpet track like i do in the Netherlands, Oss, you really want to do something :-) Track is big fun but a crash there can destroy the entire front, not car friendly |
