Takeshi's notes:

  • The basic set is from January, but I changed the Ackerman position and diff height to try it out.
  • With this shock setting (including damper length), the damper mounting position on the front arm side felt good on the outside.
  • It seems to bend more compared to before, but not much has changed.
  • The springs are Associated yellow front and blue rear.
  • I'm using Associated 13mm shock pistons with a 0.1mm shim added. No modification.
  • The gear diff should be either 2-gear 3000 or 5000. If you're worried about loss of drive power at start-up, go for the 5000.
  • Next time, I'll try oil at around 32.5 and 27.5, and go with whichever feels better and try all the springs.
  • Compared to last year's All Japan, we're adjusting the handling with harder oil, softer springs, a little more front rebound, less power, and changes to the alignment.
  • We're planning to create a stable machine that will stand up to first timers. I don't know though.
  • If you normally drive a 2WD with Schumacher tires and switch to JC tires with the same set, you may feel that the rear is unreliable (especially sideways), but don't worry, once you change the set up a little more for stability and get used to the grip, you should be able to drive normally.
  • Until you get used to it, it's easier to drive if you apply shoulder glue to a slightly wider area. Don't forget to degrease (apply primer) the shoulder glue surface.
