B7D oiled track setup with 81mm arms / B7.1D parts

Hi all, sharing our most recent setup for the B7D on our local oiled track (high grip) which is very similar to the updated B7.1D configuration.

  • 81 mm rear arms: we have been using these for some time as they give more corner speed. They feel to let you carry more speed through the mid end exit of the corner which is good on flowing tracks. Note you need the -4mm hubs, 71mm bones, different axles to run this (all included in the B7.1D). Compared to the kit B7 hubs you run the axle height setting +1mm higher and use a 1mm wider hex. We've found you need to run around 2mm more spacing on the hub link than you would run with the 78mm arm. We have found the shock needs an extra 1.5mm length to keep the same droop.
  • new 3 gear gearbox (same as T7). This runs quieter, smoother and gives better throttle control.
  • -2mm towers front and rear:these lower the CG and improve corner speed. To maintain droop we run a 2mm.shorter shock. We use 0mm front eyelets instead of +2 and at the rear if using 78mm arms we would use 28.0/+2 but with the 81mm arms we use a +4 eyelet to keep the same droop setting. We have been using the optional JC parts (which look awesome in blue carbon).
  • 0 kpi steering smooths out the initial and adds more mid corner steering.
  • Blue/Grey springs - we use these almost all the time in this condition and they are included.
We use the ball diff most of the time unless it is super high grip. We use sway bars to make the car a little easier to drive. We use long links front and rear which make the car much smoother to drive especially if the track becomes aggressive.
