- Team Associated B6.x - Layback Vs Laydown Transmission Parts -

From the B6.1 series onwards, the Team Associated 2wd buggy has the option of 'Layback' transmission in addition to the 'Laydown' style. The layback places the motor around 6mm further back than the laydown and is good for lower grip conditions such as the 2019 world's in Slovakia where it was successfully used to get 1-2 in 2wd.

I see a lot of questions about which parts are which so I've taken some photos below to help out.

  • The layback housing has a shorter distance between the diff and spur layshaft.
  • The layback upper housing has the word 'layback written inside'.
  • The layback uses the smaller 26t idler gear, the laydown uses the larger 39t gear.
  • All other parts are shared between the two housings.
The 'D' versions of the kits include parts to build either configuration. I hope this helps you in your build!
