B6.3 new +3mm steering bellcranks by Ray Munday

Team Associated has released some new +3mm steering bellcranks for the B6.3. There is an excellent explanation in the press release (below) but basically I'd recommend these if you are running on higher grip tracks where you are using a front axle height of +2 or +3mm and also when using reduced front caster (which is a recent trend on very high grip tracks).

How do they help? When running raised front axle heights / less caster the outer ballstud is raised up and even with zero washers under the ballstud the bumpsteer can move out of the correct window as the ballstud is higher than the rack. These bellcranks raise the rack 3mm to match the raised outer ballstud.
On typical lower grip outdoor tracks we use +0 or +1 axle height and higher caster so the standard parts are fine. But for those running on higher grip, these should improve your bumpsteer tuning window

When to Use the Chart
If you run the 5° caster block insert, then you don’t need +3mm bellcranks because the outer ballstud is lower compared to the steering bellcrank.

If you run 0° or 2.5° caster block inserts and you want to minimize bump steer, then use the +3mm bellcranks and use the table to adjust your bumpsteer washer spacing.

Chart is for the 25° bulkhead orientation only.

Understanding the Chart
Numbers in white cells are the required spacer thicknesses in mm.

Blue numbers in white cells are OVER 3mm, so the raised bellcranks are not needed for these configurations.

Black numbers in white cells are spacing in mm for baseline setup.

Recommended Bump Steer Washer(s) Required with +3mm Bellcranks
25° Bulkhead Axle Height
0 0.5 1 1.5 2 2.5 3
Caster Inserts -5° 5 4.5 4 3.5 3 2.5 2
-2.5° 4 3.5 3 2.5 2 1.5 1

Official Press Release

Our new Factory Team +3mm bellcranks allow racers to tune the caster with 0 and 2.5 deg. inserts and still minimize bump steer! On high-traction tracks, the pro drivers have gained cornering speed by reducing caster from the kit 5 deg. inserts down to 0 or 2.5 deg. Unfortunately, the 0 or 2.5 deg. caster inserts raise the outer steering block ball, creating un-wanted bump steer, which affects wheel angle as the car leans. Our solution has the +3mm raised bellcrank sets counteract the adjustment and help keep your steering angles consistent through the entire suspension travel. This combination makes the cars and trucks corner faster, while also maintaining predictable handling.

Features

  • +3 mm raised steering for minimized bump steer at 27.5 and 25 deg. overall caster (0 and 2.5 deg. caster inserts)
  • Durable CNC aluminum construction, reduces flex
  • Laser-etched FT logo
  • Available in both blue and black anodized finishes
  • Ideal for high-traction clay, carpet, or artificial turf
  • Fits all B6 series 2WD (B6.3 to B6) and all trucks T6.2 and SC6.2 (and earlier)
