All the parts to build the differential are included in the bag D. A balls diff may seem complex to build but in fact this is really easy. I recommend to work on a towel for building the differential, this will prevent from loosing balls.

My build notes:

  • Before installing the diff balls in the diff gear. Apply diff lube all around the inside of the diff gear on both sides exactly where the balls will go. The grease will help to hold the balls in place. Magnetize the tip of a hex driver and use it to put the balls at the right places in the diff gear.

  • Install one washer on the diff thrust bolt, add black grease to the washer to keep the diff thrust balls in place during assembling. Insert the second washer and make sure all the balls are perfectly sit between both washers.

  • The diff thrust bolt goes into the female diff outdrive.

  • Team Associated recommends to tighten the thrust bolt and loosen 1/8 of a turn. I usually loosen the bolt a little more than 1/4 of a turn. Very important… Re-check the bolt and re-adjust the diff after the initial run.
