As promised, here is the car and ESC setup from FTC.
The car is a standard carbon BD10. Options include:
- aluminum outdrives (the most important robustness upgrade)
- aluminum shock pivot balls
- titanium screws on top deck, bearing caps and shock towers
- SHS ball studs in titanium on the steering (for better ackerman and bumpsteer adjustability
- aluminum diff outdrives and rear axles
I use 5mm hexes because I have them and I know I'll lose a shim when it's most important that I don't...
The carbon bumper brace is just nice, not a functional thing.
Note the servo saver with the ball stud at 17mm (outside upper hole), good to keep the car from being twitchy.
Battery strap is loose, battery floats easily, so as not to bind up the chassis.
ESC is a standard FLowX Stock Spec. I do use the LRP sensor wire with the hall sensor in it, 100mm version. Wire is TQ 13ga.
I've included my servo settings. I've spent some time over the past couple of months tuning this quite differently and find the feel more natural like this.
This setup might be a bit edgy for some, I drive smooth and like a lot of steering. I'd suggest 1.5mm roll center shims and maybe a bit less camber gain if this is too aggressive for your driving style. |
