Finally back to racing!

I competed at the 2021 RCRA South Australian State titles held at RRCSA Littlehampton in the Adelaide hills.

The race was held on 17-19 of September. Friday practice went well, and I barely changed my setups from how the cars arrived at the track. My stock car was fantastic, and I just tested different shock combinations.

I had two different modified cars, both very similar in speed on track but slightly different in feeling. Once I got comfortable with one, I decided that would be the car I raced on the weekend. The rest of the day I just tested out the KWR tires, as this was my first time using them. I worked out a great tire preparation, and this included gluing the sidewall of the tire after every run due to the possibility of the tires tearing.

Saturday was Qualifying day, and we got 1 round in before unfortunately having the rest of the day being rained out. I was able to take TQ in stock and modified in that round.

On Sunday the weather was dry, but also very windy. Speeds reaching up to 70 km/h! This was the most difficult driving conditions I’ve ever experienced in RC. Thankfully I had some clean runs, and was able to TQ both classes.

I knew the finals would be tricky with these conditions, and thankfully I won both A1 finals. In A2 of stock I unfortunately made an error taking too much curb, resulting in the car being on its roof for over 10 seconds.. I did redeem myself taking the win in A3 quite easily. In Modified I managed to take the wij in A2, but this race was crazy. Huge wind gusts, barely being able to keep the car in a straight line, even being blown across the track!! I was very relieved to cross the finish line.

Both cars worked awesome all weekend, and it was a great result for myself. I am looking forward to the next race!!
