Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend my very first pan car race, driving the XP10 at the iconic Hudy Arena. Huge thanks to Antonino Mangiaracina for preparing my car and sharing some essential setup tips for this class. Thanks to his support, the car was an absolute joy to drive—even though traction levels were far from ideal.
For those running this incredible class in low-traction conditions, I’m sharing my setup sheet below, including detailed chassis focus photos and additional insights you may find useful.
Setup Notes & Race Experience
I was competing in the Modified class using a 5T motor, as our finals were 8 minutes long. While the extended runtime was a great experience, it came with its own set of challenges—especially as traction began to fade toward the end of each run.
To overcome this, I made several key adjustments:Widened the rear track using 3mm shims per side (instead of the usual 2mm)Raised the rear of the body and the wing height to improve stability during off-power situationsSwitched from traditional pan car additives to Hudy Red additive—my go-to for maximum traction on carpet with touring carsUsed a heavier side tube oil to further enhance overall stability After applying these changes, the car felt dialed in and allowed me to enjoy consistent performance and sharp steering throughout the full 8-minute runs.
