X4'26 tech tip! Downstop- and upstop measurement without the #107730 gauge.

The #107730 HUDY Droop & Upstop Set-Up Tool is not yet available. We're sorry for the inconvenience. But it IS possible to set both the downstop and the upstop also without the gauge.

• Downstop: You can set the downstop using the previous method, with the older style #107714. Gauge. For example, when using 0.5mm under the front hub, and 1.0mm under the rear hub (as suggested in my previous post), start with a downstop value of 6.6 front and 4.4 rear (measured under the arm). This equals to 23.6 front and 22.4 on the new gauge (see picture for details).

• Upstop: There’s a method in this video where I set the upstop using a shim underneath the chassis at full compression. See this video below.

X4'26 Quick FAQ!
There's a few questions about our new TC which I've received more than once. Some which are not answered in the manual or in the tech tip videos. See below!
------------------------
Q: Is it possible to convert my X4'25 to a 26?
A: About 70% of the parts are new. Technically, you can. But it’s cheaper to buy a new kit.
------------------------
Q: Which spare & option parts carry over from the 25 to the 26?
A: Shocks, springs, PSS for shocks, spur gear, layshaft, belts, hubs, steering system, ball bearings (except for diff bearings), drive shafts, hexes, belt tensioners, T-brace, battery mounting system, bumper parts, upper link arms, motor mount (without countersunk can't be used for 1.5mm chassis), body posts
------------------------
Q: What tools do you recommend getting for the 26?
A: The same tools as you would use for the 25, with the addition of the HUDY #107730 Droop & Upstop tool.
------------------------
Q: Are the CFF upper arms the same as those on the 22/23 cars?
A: No, they're not compatible, although, the 26 arms have a resemblance to the 22/23 upper arms.
------------------------
Q: What set-up should I start with for carpet racing?
A: Take a look at this post from Adam Izsay. ------------------------
Q: What set-up should I start with for asphalt racing?
A: Take a look at the basic suggested set-up.

Important info for XRAY X4'26 users! I know that many of you are busy building your cars as we speak. There seems to be some confusion about the shim height on the 26 vs. the 25, for instance, if you are trying to "convert" your 25 setup onto the 26. The differences are all listed in the manual - although, this is easy to overlook (I know!), here's a quick summary of the differences:
  • Lower arm height, 2mm on 25 = 2.5mm on 26.
  • Hub height, 0.5mm on 25 = 1.0mm on 26.
  • Shock position, 1mm on 25 = 0mm on 26.
  • Front bump steer, 2mm on 25 = 4mm on 26.
  • ARS (toe-gain), 2mm on 25 = 2mm on 26 (when kit 3mm is used on bulkhead).
Pro tip: Having said that, the team have generally preferred lower hub and lower arm heights compared to the 25 car, so converting over by raising everything up is not necessarily recommended. But - please test and find your preferred setting.
