Tech Report – Hudy Series MSP Bohumín Rnd. 5
Last weekend, I attended Round 5 of the Hudy Series in Bohumín. As it took place right after ETS in Wiener Neustadt—and after spending the entire week testing the XRAY X12 together with Alexander Hagberg—I didn’t have time to prepare my car with the setup I normally use at local races.
Our local races are typically run on low- to medium-traction tracks, so I usually run a 1.5mm aluminum chassis to maximize traction. This time, however, I used my ETS car, which features a steel chassis with short arms. I was curious to see how this car would perform in low-traction conditions and wanted to adapt the setup accordingly.
Since the ETS race was held on a fairly oily track, traction there was also quite low despite the large number of drivers. It was great to see that the steel chassis worked well in our local low-traction conditions too
I was missing a bit of front grip to get more steering into the corners. I solved this by adding anti-dive on the front lower arms.
To improve steering while maintaining stability through the chicanes, I raised the shocks from 1mm to 2mm shims on the shock tower.
To gain even more steering, I moved the front brace from the bulkheads to the top deck.
With just these few changes from my usual high-traction setup, I achieved excellent steering, sufficient traction, and a car that was both easy to drive and fast.
