Tech info from the recent Essex Winter Series - EWS Events International!
Very high grip levels, meant that front tire sidewall gluing was required (59mm). The track is still a bit bumpy, although, less than in the past years.
My XRAY X4'26 car with a similar set-up from the USIC in Cleveland worked very well, with a few small adjustments for the bigger track size and different tires used.
I ran a pre-production 1.2mm steel chassis (to be released soon). Which lowers CG and increases stability for very high grip conditions.
I ran upper link arms, in combination with -1mm upper clamps. The combination of a stiffer upper arm assembly, and longer upper arms, freed up the car, and improved consistency for these conditions.
The rear upper links were more spread apart for more stability on corner entry (makes the upper arm assembly stiffer).
Front upstop was used for more high-speed stability.
Optional short lower suspension arms increases roll and steering, but can then be de-tuned for a fast, yet very manageable handling.
My Hobbywing Technology and Team EAM, Inc electronics combo was faultless as usual. I opted for the 5.0T G3 motor for this large track, together with the 4600 2S shorty packs from EAM.
Alex Hagberg - EWS International - Car Info
With incredibly high grip conditions at EWS International Alex (has already posted about the prototype XRAY 1.2mm Steel Chassis due early 2026) worked on finding the set up to suit the latest spec XRAY X4’26.
For the first time here in the UK (EWS) Alex & Harley selected the optional Short Wishbones (Medium):
XR302184-M
XR302185-M
XR303184-M
XR303185-M
Unfortunately we did not expect to use these wishbones as so far we haven’t tested them - but with recent success at recent races Alex bolted them in his car in Seeding (on Saturday morning) and immediately started to set impressive times at the top of the charts
As I say unfortunately we didn’t expect to need these so the rest of the team weren’t able to try them this time…….. but considering Alex relatively struggled here last year and this weekend was pushing for TQ and to Win, for sure the new car is a beast, and these wishbones (and the Steel Chassis in the new year) will be super hot options to try. |
