Alexander Hagberg: I've received some questions about starting set-ups for the XRS Grand Final, which is held at Hudy Arena next week! The spec tire is the well-performing HUDY A1-36, as usual. See tire preparation method below.
I haven't run at the outdoor track at Hudy Arena since last year's Grand Final - but the set-ups from last year's event should serve as good starting points, and can easily be converted from the 24 car to the 25 car.
If grip gets high, I personally plan on trying a 1.5mm aluminium chassis, as well as G lower arms.
Here's my tire preparation method using the HUDY #106262 Asphalt Gripper (recommended additive):
- If tires are new, remove the middle seam first, using a tire sander and a sand paper or file.
-
Clean tires with brake cleaner.
-
Apply one coating of additive, and use tire warmers for 5 minutes set at 70°C.
-
Re-apply the additive and add paper tissues to the warmers. Warm for another 5 minutes.
-
Remove the warmers and proceed directly to the track. Total application and warming time = 10 minutes.
