ETS Rd1 in Apeldoorn, Stock: P5!
First of all... it was awesome to be back after 1 year of only watching B main bump up´s
Its crazy to say that the ETS is better then before as it was high end before I had to step out a season... but it does ! That was a top notch event ! nothing to complain about. NOTHING ! Thank you very much to the Apeldoorn crew and all who makes it possible the the old dudes can play with their cars in style with great competition.
But now to the race:
I stayed with a couple of Team Xray already the weekend before. Sadly we had bad weather so the track was never even close to be on point from what we had at the ETS itself. But anyway, The Tires are very different from the old version. Seems like I dont know exactly what to do yet. Long story short, in the end I sauced them about 5 times and heated them with 100deg. The tire warmers where smoking a bit in the morning ^^ While starting with the "test setup" it was almost impossible to stay at the track. My biggest issue was to find a setup for 5min. I guess in the end there is a good compromise and as I have some 1time used tires left I will invest some time in it to find a solution.
After "only" seeded 8th I gambled a bit and used the 2nd set just in Q4. Sadly I had a tire Problem wich I didnt see before and it was very hard to keep the car on the track. In the end... Start from P7. A main, check. But not the goal to be honest.
Finals: Those went chaotic as always on a ETS when people just crash into other cars. But this time... I was in the back and went by ^^ A2 I had new tires. Sadly the car in front of me spun and crash me out. A bit shit but race incedent.
A3: Changed the car setup and made it very pushy. Event the diff and Spur where down. Which is always a big NO GO for stock racing. but in the end it worked. Was able to punsh hard but it was overall a bit to slow as I took away to much steering.
Now as I read what I just wrote... I dont want to blame the tires, Track conditions or whatever. It was all on me. I wasnt prepaired at all with this tires and traction. I need to do better. I learned a lot... I wrote it down... Heating I figured out after A1
Big thanks to Team Xray for the support on and off the track. Especial Martin Hudy and Adam Izsay for the prep before the race. Thanks also to Bart Wubben for sharing value informations and test discussions. Even I was in stress all the time to make the cars from my Kids and wife as well. This is what I need. Discussions, info sharing and improvements. Nice Team work.
