The high grip, fast and flowing asphalt track required a bit unconventional set-up approach for the modified TC class!
Notable set-up parameters:
• 1pc topdeck (301070) for less initial reaction, but more mechanical grip (side bite). We ended up using one flex screw on each end of the spur gear, which made the car flatter than using the bearing option only.
• Upper link arms, in combination with the optional -1mm upper clamps (301576) was a good compromise between standard upper arms, and the longer hillbilly links which we've often used lately. The upper link arms made the car more direct, and improved high speed response in particular (more grip under acceleration and braking).
• The base of the set-up is similar to what I've been running back home. However, a thicker diff oil was needed for the grippy, fast and flowing track in Apeldoorn. Low diffs also helped improve high speed stability,
• My fast and reliable Hobbywing Technology ESC & motor package was faultless - and just required some fine tuning in terms of boost and turbo settings for this track.
• I did opt for the bigger Team EAM, Inc 6300 LiPo battery, as opposed to the typical choice of the 6000 pack. The extra capacity was needed to have sufficient runtime on this very power-demanding outdoor track!
