Tech info from The 2025 Snowbird Nationals!

In TC, with my XRAY X4'25, I did use the set-up which Keven Hebert has used to dominate many carpet TC events in the last year as a base. From there, I fine tuned it for my liking and to accomodate for the soft Jaco Green tires. The changes I made were:

  • Softer shock oil to generate more roll and a more forgiving handling.
  • 2.0mm topdecks with only a single screw at each end, instead of 1.6 decks with 2 front screws. The thicker topdecks freed up the car when the track was becoming greasy come qualifying.
  • A stiffer front spring helped to keep the front of the car more level, and allowed me to drive it harder, which suits my driving style better. No glue was needed at Snowbirds. However, when practicing at APEX Raceway and Hobbies, which has much higher grip levels, we did glue the sidewall to 59mm.
About my Hobbywing Technology and Team EAM, Inc electronic setup:
  • I used a 5.5T G3 motor in my TC for the first time, and was amazed by the improved drivability (as a result of the reduced punch over a 5.0T motor).
  • I used a titanium 12.3mm rotor (HW30820402) in my G3 3.5T motor in the 1/12 open modified class for the first time. This rotor improved runtime (efficiency) with an equal amount of power.
  • My EAM 4200 (2S shorty) and 8500 (1S) packs provided exceptional runtime and consistency in both classes.
