Tech info: my set-up sheets from the recent Essex Winter Series - EWS Events R4 which I TQ'ed and won!

The XRAY X4'23 setup was basically my GP3F setup with a few adjustments for the larger, and bumpier EWS track. The grip is also lower than it was at GP3F since it's a one-day event. I made the following changes:

  • 5.2/5.4 ride height. Higher ride height for better stability over bumps.
  • Standard shock configuration, not PSS (4x1.2mm pistons) to better cope with bumps. 400 cSt oil used.
  • 6K rear diff instead of 7K. Lighter rear diff to improve side bite on the lower grip conditions.
  • 5.0mm ARS link shim instead of 4.5. More toe-gain on compression for a more stable car through the entire corner. The car will have reduced steering but better stability (which was required at this track).
  • 3.5mm bump steer shim instead of 3.0mm. For better drivability overall at the expense of some mid corner steering.
  • More camber gain. 1.0mm lower upper arm shimming on the inside front, and 0.5mm lower on the inside rear. More camber gain improves side bite for lower grip conditions.
At the end of the day I was very happy with the handling. If I had more time I would try the 2.4-2.7 front spring again to improve front grip in low speed corners especially.

As for my Hobbywing ESC setup, I ran an identical setting except for 1 more degree of turbo, for the long straight.
I also charged my Nosram 4200 Hyper LCG Shorty to 4.20V per cell instead of 4.10 which I did at Longwy. The larger EWS track required a bit more punch, and more runtime.
