Masters of Foam 2025 – What a Race!
The Masters of Foam 2025 is officially in the books, and what an incredible race it was! The Masters of Foam is the most prestigious European 1/12-scale event after the European Championships, and once again, it was perfectly organized from start to finish.
This year's track layout was noticeably more challenging than in the past. The chicane under the driver's stand, in particular, tested everyone's precision and consistency — but it also made the racing even more exciting to watch and drive.
Since I don't race 1/12 that often, I was really curious to see how I'd perform on such a demanding layout. To my surprise, my car was so easy to drive that I didn't have any major issues throughout the weekend. I managed to qualify consistently in 3rd and 4th place and kept the same position after the finals. The highlight for me was definitely the second final, where I managed to challenge the leader for several laps from P2.
As a 40+ driver, I might have made my car too easy to drive — it was missing a bit of initial steering, which limited my ability to attack the leaders. But the trade-off was worth it: I was able to drive a full 8 minutes without a single mistake.
What made me really happy was that I used the exact same setup I ran a week earlier at the Hudy Series in the Hudy Arena — even though that was on an open layout, with lower traction and different tire additive. This just proves how stable, comfortable, and easy to drive the X12'26 really is.
That point was proven even further by my 8-year-old son, who made the A-Main in the 1/12 GT class out of 40 drivers! I couldn't be prouder watching him handle such a tricky layout so well — especially considering he only races this class once a year and had no prior practice.
The whole XRAY team delivered an outstanding performance — placing 4 cars in the top 5 and 5 cars in the A-Main in Modified, plus 3 cars in the Stock Spec class!
A huge thank-you to all XRAY drivers for joining us and for making this event so much fun both on and off the track. And of course, a massive thanks to the Masters of Foam crew for organizing such an amazing event and for their special focus on the younger drivers — hosting Junior Finals in both Stock and GT classes. My son even managed to win his Junior Final, which was the perfect cherry on top of an unforgettable weekend! |
