How to adjust Ackermann without moving the servo. I often use small OD shims in between the servo saver and my servo to adjust my Ackermann settings. This is not only quicker than adjusting the shimming for the whole servo (between the servo and posts) but it also allows you to adjust Ackermann without having to affect the weight bias (which you do by moving the servo). This tech tip is particularly useful for when using larger size servos (such as Savox) with a short wheelbase, because the servo position will be limited by the position of the lower arm (can't move further forward).

This tech tip also applies to the X10, as well as to any 12th scale car with a servo mounting position like the X12.
The pictures attached are rather self-explanatory!

These are the part numbers for the shims:

  • 303142-K - 0.5mm
  • 303141 - 1.0mm
Off topic - my servo of choice is the Sanwa PGS-HR. It's a small, light and programmable servo. In my opinion, it's the best, and most popular choice, for the X12 platform.
