Victory for Serpent S411 TE and Steven M. Olsen at DASU DM4
At the 4th round of the DASU Danish Championship held at Regnbuebanen in Glostrup, Steven M. Olsen took his Serpent S411 TE to the front of the starting grid, grabbing the TQ spot and made the most of it, by taking the overall win in the Super Stock division.
Steven M. Olsen was one of two Serpent S411 TE attending the race, at both made the A-main. The other was driven by Troels Troelsen.
During practice Saturday it was clear that the the race on Sunday, was going to be a close one. Steven was a bit behind on the 7 minute pace, but lap times was looking good. The car had been making tricks on him, but this was located as the rear diff had some how run out of oil.
The car was under steering just a bit, but very easy to drive.
Sunday showed some great racing weather. Dry, a bit chilly at the beginning of the day, but the sun made a great day.
Steven got a good solid 1st run. All was naturally on new tires, and mistakes made the difference. Steven didn’t make any and took the round win with the time 27 laps 7:10.873 some five second faster the number to.
With six wheels available for a race, drivers have som tactical option to play during especially qualifying. The Solaris Hard tires has a limited time of making fast lap times, so they have to be used wisely. This is clear as the fastest lap times drop from about 15.5 in Q1 to 15.9 in Q3.
For the second round Steven stayed on his starting four tires.
This might have been the reason why Steven was “only” second fastest in the round 1.3 seconds behind Søren B. Holst who used his fresh par of tires on his car for this round.
It was therefore open coming into the final round of qualifying.
Steven brought out his extra tires for this run, and it gave him the advantage wanted. Steven drove the fastest time and took the round win and the TQ spot with 26 laps 7:00.293 a bit more then three seconds faster than Søren B. Holst who came in 2nd.
The mains saw lots of close and good racing, but the victory was never really going anywhere for Steven.
Steven got a good start of the first A-main and made a gap that he could maintaine to the finish line and take the win by .8 second from Søren B. Holst.
The scene was more or less the same in the second A-main, other then Søren pressing hard to the end making the gap less than 2/10 for Steven crossing the line for the last time taking the heat and race win.
Steven drove the final main, and also won this, despite giving the lead to Søren in the early part of the heat, but regaining the lead as Søren made mistakes on the final part, making it three for three this Sunday.
This was Stevens first victory this season and his first win with the Serpent S411 TE.
Søren B. Holst came in 2nd with Christian Lehm in 3rd.
The other Serpent driver, Troels Troelsen just missed the podium as 4th, but set the fastest lap of the day making a 15.514 lap during Q1.
Naturally, Steven was very happy after the race win, and he had this to say.
“Oohhh, I’m just so happy right now. My car actually felt a bit under steered, but it was so easy to drive to day. I’m so happy. I have worked so hard for this win and I’m very happy that we finally win a race with this car here in Denmark. We have some good drivers running the 411 here in Denmark, and for me to win today just feels great.”
Lap times can be found on MyRCM. Surch for “BRC 12_08”.
The final race of the DASU season is to take place in Vejle, Denmark on the 26th August. Here the Top 3 in the overall championship will be decided. Steven is in the mix, and looking to finish strong.
