ETS Apeldoorn Setup
Prior to this event I spent 2,5 days working on this setup for the race at the track with Antoine Brunet. We seemed to have found the perfect window for this track and tire. The car is super consistent, has minimum tire wear and is very easy to drive.
I tried a lot of different setup changes during that week which helped me gather a lot more data for the upcoming ETS.
The most crucial setup changes were:
- ARS 3mm -> 1mm
Less toe gain, which helped the car especially on used tires during the first minute.
- Rear toe links more neutral, so 1mm -> 4mm under the ballstud which is mounted on the bulkhead
Similar to the previous change, helped free up the car more and was “nicer” to drive.
- 0 -> 0,5mm rollcenter shims on top of bulkhead
Gave the car less initial bite and improved roll.
The most influencial setup changes yet was discovered by complete randomness.
When we tried the Avalon on a practice day, we needed fit a spacer under the rear body mount. As I tested the Avalon and Wolverine back to back to discover the true difference, I forgot to take out these 6mm shims when driving with the wolverine. Lucky enough this was actually an improvement and I drove the fastest 5min time yet. With this extreme rake it felt like the car could carry a lot more speed going into- and out of the corner. I tried going back to standard during FP2, and then back again in CP1 which gave me a good picture of what the difference really was, and I really liked it. Definitely something I will have an eye on in the future.
