Just finished one of the bigger races of the year. Was definitely one of the hottest races of the year.

The IRIS One .05 with ORCA power performed really well this year compared to last year at the same race. Qualified 4th and finished 4th in the A Main in Modified.

This year it was not a battle of speed but on who can make the tires last the 5 mins with an air temp of at least 30 degs. I have tried different tyre warmup strategies and many setup changes to get the tyres in the correct working window. I have learned a lot about the Sweep D32 Tires and how to setup the car to bring the tires in when I would like. I will fine tune it for the races to come so I can be better prepared for TITC this year if I go because they will be using the same tire just a harder compound.

At the start of the weekend I tested with a 1 step above the lowest roll center for the arm mounts because the week before I ran even higher rolI centre and the tires did not fire up quicker enough. Then I lowered the roll center to the lowest on the arm to have the tires to fire up even quicker but noticed on new tires after 1-2 mins the tyres will start to degrade and overheat. This resulted in understeer. The last major change made was to widen the rear arms to it the middle setting to combat the understeer and to not stress the front tyres as much.

Eventually I settled on the setup in the photo. The changes worked but the conditions did get even hotter. For next race I will further fine tune the roll center and shock oil to have the front and rear tyres heat up closer together so I can maintain balance throughout the run.
