I have been testing a lot on different tracks lately, mainly running “EFRA” modified, which means 6.5 turn in blinky mode. As I have three local tracks within an hour drive with three different carpets, I have really gotten to know the car on different surfaces and come to a setup that works very well on medium to high grip.
I haven't done many changes from the stock setup, but I do a few, as you can see in the attached sheet. The short rear pod is a very powerful tuning to get rotation without loosing rear grip. I feel this is a better way than overdoing it on springs/oil. I run oil on the heavier side than before as the pod springs are softer, and due to the better rear rotation, you can run it heavier without loosing steering.
For ackermann, I always aim for the steering links to be a straight line at full lock(seen from above), as that is a very safe, neutral feel. If you need more aggression, changing the ackermann is a powerful tool. Just a millimeter shim can give quite lot more response.
For most places, I end up at medium springs and 15k kyosho, even CRC Black Carpet. I feel that stiffer springs give more response, but it too easily scrubs the tire, and same goes for softer grease.
Rear spring is also a powerful change for low grip, but beware. It steals cornerspeed and gives front end chassis rub on high speed tracks. On low grip, and/or very short tight tracks, a softer spring can give you a very good throttle feel to balance the chassis, but as soon as speed and grip goes up, it's a brake. I run the red Schumacher, which is slightly stiffer than the original spring.
Another thing I do, and many do, is run a raised pod. Handling wise, it doesn't do much, but it makes it easier to make rideheight as motor doesn't hang under the chassis. Just easier through tech, and when adjusting. To do this, you need 2mm shims on the pivot mount, 2mm under the damper post, and 2mm on the link mounting positions on the pod, as seen in the pictures below.
