FEMCA RD2 Setup

The race was held at Mutiara Rini Raceway in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. A relatively small track with a bumpy surface and medium grip levels.
For this event, I only made two changes from Akio’s base setup:

  1. Front springs: 2.5–2.8 progressive springs (from 2.7 linear)
  2. Body shell: Avalon Vortex 0.5mm paired with a Wolverine 0.5mm wing
Reasons for the changes:

Springs:
Switching from the 2.7 linear spring to the 2.5–2.8 progressive spring provided more mid-corner steering, which suited the tighter layout.

Body Shell:
The Avalon Vortex generated noticeably more downforce and overall grip compared to both the Speciale and Ghibli. The car felt significantly more planted and predictable, which matched my aggressive driving style perfectly. On top of that, the grip remained remarkably consistent throughout the full 5 minute run, with virtually no grip fade. This body shell is just in a league of its own now for modified racing!

Overall, the balance of this setup was exceptionally good. In fact, I’m confident it would perform well across a wide range of track conditions.

Another advantage is that it doesn’t require many optional parts. If you’d like to replicate this exact setup, you’ll only need:
  • Rear Block B caster blocks (4C-003-001)
  • Front 0.5mm offset upper bulkhead inserts (4B-001-051)
  • The corresponding titanium and aluminium screws
Believe it or not, the effect of these screw changes can actually be felt on track.
