I often get asked if I like my Team Associated TC8 Touring Car. The answer honestly is 'Yes!', I am very happy with the car. I have also noticed allot of local racers in Brisbane and Sydney are keen to understand what the car is like, and if there are many option parts and spare parts needed to race the TC8 chassis.
In Australia the grip is predominantly low to medium, so I always recommend the graphite chassis kit to begin with. The steel chassis kit is mainly used for high grip asphalt or indoor carpet. So below are my recommendations for racers looking at running the TC8 graphite kit.
Option parts:
- Factory Team +1 front steering arms 32020 for Ackerman adjustment. This results in sharper, more aggressive steering.
- Factory Team steel rear chassis weight 32089 18 grams. Helps with weight balance and can be used as a chassis stiffener.
- Along with the option parts above I recommend purchasing additional AE springs, Grey and blue progressive springs would be a good starting option along with optional sway bars.
The chassis is really durable when unfortunate accidents happen it holds up really well, but these are the spare parts I generally recommend keeping on hand.
Spare parts:
- Lower arm ball cups 32075
- Spool outdrives 32024
- Driveshaft 32026
- Wheel hex 91862 and hex screw 91611
- Turnbuckles 32045 and 32047
It's always handy to have a spare diff for different traction and track layouts plus spare belts, lower arms and top decks if and when required.
Below I have attached a base setup for stock/blinky classes for open and flowing tracks. This has proved to be a good starting setup for low to medium traction. If the layout is tighter, you can start by lowering the roll centre by 0.5mm-1.0mm.
I hope this helps anyone looking at getting a TC8 chassis kit.
