Team Associated's championship-winning 1:12 scale kit is now optimized for 4-cell competition, and has been given the full Factory Team options package. We started with a redesigned graphite chassis, now flat-fronted with twin mini-bumpers for impact-damage resistance, and with tweak reference center holes already drilled in. The steering servo mounts are all new Factory Team blue aluminum items with multiple mounting points to fit most servos.

"Like so many of Associated's cars, beginners buy it because of its reputation, and then find it is easy to drive - right up to World Championship level."

The front suspension has been redesigned with new upper arm mounts which allow 0, 5, or 10 degrees of reactive caster. The precision-ground upper hinge pin is now secured with two set screws, and cross-support is provided with a floating carbon fiber cross brace.

The 12L4 features unique molded adjustable battery trays which allow the cells to sit as low as possible in the chassis, without having to file the graphite chassis battery cutouts. These trays provide approximately .150" (4mm) of battery movement to shift the weight of the cells forward for more steering, or backward for more rear traction.

The blue 7075 T-6 aluminum rear hubs are all new, with a single-clamp style left hub, and a dual-bearing supported right diff hub featuring the large "D" style locking diff rings (allowing the greater diameter ball pattern) as preferred by most of our Team drivers. The graphite-thru, Pro-style rear axle is from IRS.

The rear suspension has also been optimized for 4-cell competition, using a single VCS Micro-Shock, a thicker, more rigid upper graphite pod plate, and your choice of two included fiberglass T-bars, .063 or .075".

Associated's winning record in 1:12 scale competition is unequalled, and the new 12L4 was designed with input from many of the top 1:12 scale racers in the world, including Mike Blackstock, winner and T.Q. of the 2004 Snowbirds Race, and Jon Orr, winner of the 2004 U.S. Indoor Championships at Cleveland.

Associated’s VCSTM Micro Shock with its Volume Compensating System results in the smoothest, most consistent dampening ever. It became an instant hit even before it’s introduction in the RC10L3 Oval. Optional springs are available for more tuning possibilities.

This kit has been replaced by the RC12L4

Team Associated’s RC12 series on road cars have been the dominant 1:12 scale cars in national and international competitions over the past 20 years, winning seven IFMAR World Championships and numerous ROAR Nationals. Now Team Associated introduces the RC12L3.

Built by Racers for Racers. We heard you. With input from IFMAR World Champion Masami Hirosaka, Jon Orr, and Phil Davies, Chief Designer Cliff Lett took the IFMAR World Championship RC12LC and made refinements only a racer could love.

Kit Features

Associated’s new, VCS Micro Shock with its Volume Compensating System results in the smoothest, most consistent dampening ever. It became an instant hit even before it’s introduction in the RC10L3 Oval. Optional springs are available for more tuning possibilities.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You said you loved the race-proven front suspension with its fully adjustable caster, camber, toe-in/out. Associated’s Dynamic Strut Front End is the still the easiest-to-use front suspension on the market and we’ve kept it that way. You loved the strong, carbon-fiber composite chassis, but wanted it lighter. The new chassis design is lighter, yet still strong in all the right places.

Dynamic Strut front end

With a nod to the world’s best racing tires, the RC12L3’s new, more secure, 3-bolt rear hub design complements the Jaco Aeroforce 3-bolt tire/wheel combo nicely.

You wanted it race-ready, NOW. How about lightweight aluminum screws? Included. Titanium turnbuckles? Standard. And don’t forget about our Factory Team graphite-thru axle.

Factory Team blue axle

We didn’t forget the cool factor. Our "Factory Team" blue aluminum screws, blue ballstuds and blue titanium turnbuckles will turn the competition green with envy. Optional blue shock body, blue hubs, blue motor bulkhead and more make sure you’re all dressed up and ready to go.

Team Associated RC12LC

NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION. PLEASE SEE THE RC12L4.

Associated’s on road foray began with the RC12e 1:12 scale electric on road car. This simple and straightforward design won the ROAR Nationals in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981. Then came the RC12i, which then won the 1982 and 1984 World Championships as well as the 1983 and 1985 ROAR Nationals. In 1986 we introduced the RC12L, which won two World Championships and four ROAR Nationals on its own merit. The RC12L has been refined through the RC12LW and into the current RC12LS and has won two more World Championships and three more ROAR National titles.

The RC12LW was the first refinement of the RC12L. Here the batteries were moved closer to the centerline of the car, resulting in more responsive steering (which was most apparent in the "S" curves of the race track). We have now progressed to the RC12LS (Suspension) graphite chassis kit. This was the first kit to include our new Dynamic Strut Front Suspension, which improves steering and stability. Currently, the RC12LC is the latest in a line of race-winning cars!

Team Associated’s RC12LC is the production version of the car that Masami Hirosaka used to win the 1996/97 IFMAR 1:12 scale On Road World Championships.

We added a front end cross brace and used a new front end material. This makes the front end more rigid and more precise. The batteries were moved closer to the centerline, and a fiberglass roll over antenna was added to the new lightweight antenna/shock mount.

Features

The new rear axle allows you to change the right wheel without having to readjust the diff each time. To go with these successful features, Cliff Lett and the rest of our design team have relocated the dampener pivot post for more consistent performance. You also have dampener inserts to limit roll movement for quicker directional changes.

The rear chassis brace and T-bar have been redesigned and a T-bar brace was added. It also comes with a new precision lightweight left rear bulkhead for accurate bearing alignment. The redesigned upper and lower pod plates along with the left bulkhead make it easier to install, remove and solder in the motor.

The proven features that come with the RC12LC include our Dynamic Strut front end, Delta shock, S2 rear axle assembly, and dished one piece wheels.
