Taking a closer look at my Modified car from the last ETS round in Vienna, a full chassis focus with some key insights on how we adapted to the conditions.
As you can see in the pictures, I was running a prototype steel chassis combined with short lower arms. This was my first time using this combination, and honestly, it feels like a big step in the right direction….especially for Matrix tires.
Option parts used:
- Carbon bumper brace
- 2-piece top deck
- Low friction belt
- Direct mount servo
We started the event very strong and were competitive in both Stock and Modified right from the beginning. However, as the track evolved, it became "oily" quite early and got progressively worse with every run.
Our main goal was to maintain forward traction and precision, so we made several key setup adjustments.
What helped us adapt:
- Reduced bump steer shims (front & rear) -> improved direction change and response
- Increased droop -> overall more grip
- Reduced motor mount screws (only using screw 2 & 3) -> added rear traction
- Added second rear top deck screw -> more stability & better feedback
- Raised rear body shell by 1.5mm -> increased corner exit traction & precision
These changes helped us stay consistent and extract the maximum from the package under very tricky conditions.
