- Alexander Hagberg - Tech Tips - Battery Mounting -

This week's tip explains the important point of battery mounting on the T4. As can be seen on the pics here, I am using the XRAY fully adjustable battery mount (part no #306191). This part allows for the battery to be mounted forward or backwards, depending on how you would like it to affect the handling of the car. The rule of thumb is like always, more weight towards the front = a more stable and neutral car, particularly on corner entry.

Some people didn't know that the LiPo batteries we use are in fact lighter on the side where the plugs are. This means, that if you have your plug side towards the front of the car, this will shift more weight towards the rear of the car.

Here comes the important part though. I have noticed that many drivers make the mistake of tightening their battery too much between the battery holders. This will affect the flex of the car in a negative way, and may cause inconsistent handling in corners. Instead, allow for 5-6mm of play for the battery. It should be able to move, after the tape has been put in place as well. By using this trick, the flex will be affected to a minimum. The car will have more grip during cornering!

Last but not least, don't forget to make use of the threaded hole in the servo mount, to mount a screw (shimmed out 4mm) as a battery backstop!
