GTB 4-CELL
4-CELL RACING BRUSHLESS ESC
Novak is pleased to present a new ESC in the GTB line: The GTB 4-Cell Programmable Racing Brushless/Brush ESC.
The new GTB ESC offers all the same high-tech features and performance
as the original #1710 GTB, but is geared specifically for 4-cell
applications such as 1/12–scale on-road, and 1/12 or 1/10-scale pan car
oval. It includes six throttle profiles specifically designed for 4-cell racing.
Profiles 1-5 for are for brushless applications with revised software
for even smoother starts and finer drag brake control, while profile 6
is for brushed.
The physical appearance of
the GTB 4-Cell ESC is quite different than the original #1710 GTB.
While the footprint remains the same, the GTB 4-Cell has a 30% smaller height profile
to accommodate the smaller vehicles in which it will be used.
Noticeably missing on the ESC is the heat sink and cooling fan found on
the #1710 GTB. Also, smaller 16-gauge wire is used, which helps lighten the ESC’s weight by 25%. Other differences from the original #1710 GTB include a replaceable input harness and switch harness, both of which are “re-solderable” for retaining the ESC’s low profile and for added convenience.
While designed for 4-cell applications, the #1714 GTB ESC still retains
all the features, and more, that make this programmable ESC ideal for
racing. This versatile ESC is compatible with all Novak 540-size sensored brushless motors, and has no brushed motor limit. Like all of Novak's speed controls, the GTB 4-Cell is packed full of features. A user-friendly interface along with 4 different color status LEDs make programming the GTB extremely easy. The brushless mode has 4 adjustable parameters, including Minimum Brake, Drag Brake, Deadband, and Minimum Drive. The brushed mode is fully programmable with all of the adjustments of the brushless mode, plus adjustable Drive Frequency. The GTB also uses exclusive lightweight MOSFET technology, which have the lowest ‘RDS On’ value, and which allows the speed control to have the highest power density.
The GTB uses more than twice the number of MOSFETs as the GTX, Novak’s
competition ESC, making it the ultimate speed control for 4-cell
brushless and brushed motor performance.
Other convenient features include One-Touch Set-Up, a water-resistant case, and Gold-Plated PCB Direct-Solder Wiring Tabs. It’s also equipped with Thermal Overload Protection.
An ideal counterpart to the GTB 4-Cell ESC, as well as any 4-cell application, is Novak’s new 4-Cell Transponder Voltage Booster Module (#5485).
The module connects between the vehicle’s transponder and the receiver,
and boosts voltage to the transponder for consistent lap counting—even
when the battery pack is dumped.
