- Vega Elite RB5 - Tony Evdoka - Indoor Track - 09.10.2011 -

I run Big Bore shocks on my 2wd for the first time yesterday indoors on carpet with jumps and slippery sections.
With a variation of different pistons on the way for testing I run very close to my normal set up as listed below but with this compination of oils and pistons.
The result was really good but unfortunately got beat by Darren Bloomfield in the final (he is good though!!) LOL

Front - Big Bore
Piston standard 5 hole - New Super Hard Orange
40w Oil Losi
Shock mounted outside hole on wishbone and middle on the tower
3 mm washer under the inner side of link - middle hole
Outerr link on long position
Kick up - 30 degree

Rear - Big Bore
Piston 5 hole drilled to 1.5 with a Yellow Spring
30w Losi
Drilled additional very inside hole on wishbone and one in from the outside on the tower.
Short wheelbase
Camber link inner on the lower outer hole of the tower with it at the longest on the hub
0 deg rear habs

Under speedo weight - 92g and this never comes out of mine!
Under Lipo weight should be adjusted subject to what type of track.
If there are little jumps, rumble strips etc that upset a normal car then run under lipo 74g

Ride height at 20mm

Schumacher Staggers up front - old type with no foam
Schumacher pins on the rear

Using 45g under the Speedo is a twitchy set up.
As fast as that can be in the hands of our superstar Kevin Lee, I assure you 92g under Speedo is just as quick and feels safer.
Running the link low is a very fast set up and I agree it can be faster but only with a new set of tyres and you will suffer on any slippery sections.
With indoor tracks recently there is more and more slippery stuff put in and I have found the upper hole is just as fast but more consistent.

Nicks pistons are extremely good and I run them when on big bores set up but Tom the question was for small bores mate.

The third hole on the wishbone is rarely used indoors.
We run that outdoors.
When you drill the extra hole it is obviously the same distance apart as the other exciting 2 holes.
You don't have to run on the outside like stated.
If you run the shock inside the slot on the wishbone you will have to file a slot at the shock angle so the ball shock cup doesn’t foul. That's all.
I used to that all the time but now I have become lazy and mount the shocks on the outside of the wishbone with a 20mm screw so it’s secure. Nick Caro uses washers to stop crushing of the wishbone - I don't - 20mm is long enough to make sure it's secure without over tightening the screw.

13th at the Indoor BRCA 2wd Indoor Championships the other week says the set up is not far off.
