- Tamiya TRF502X - Lee Martin - Ardent - starting setup Petit RC Race 2010 -

Changes currently made to improve the performance and handling of the 502X:

- Shock stand off spacing: On my 502x I am using 4mm washers behind the hop up alloy shock stand off’s (gold ones) on the front shocks to space them out further to create a more vertical shock movement, on the rear I have used a 3mm washer in the same way. I have done this because the standard position seems to make the shock become tight once the suspension is compressed causing a change in handling. (if using standard nut and plastic standoff, only use 2mm washer in front and 1mm in back.) Be aware that this may require a longer screw or if your using a lock nut, put them on backwards – So far with a standard plastic nut, mine have been ok. (doubling up on the shock tower will create a similar effect and may be a useful idea.

- Droop: I have changed my droop on the car from the first few times I have used it. On the front I am running with the shock bottoms unscrew approx. 5 turns to gain more droop and on the rear I am running the shocks with a 2mm limiter inside to reduce the droop and reduce the risk of the drive shafts popping out.

- Diffs: Currently I am running with the front diff slightly tighter than the rear.

- Roll Bars: I have now gone to running no roll bar on the rear aswell as the front, this has increased the rear end grip and should make the car better on bumpy tracks, for smooth dirt I may have to run a thin (yellow) type roll bar.
