- Sworkz S12-1M ‘4’ Gear to ‘3’ Gear Upright Gearbox Mod -

‘Note, you will need new Gearbox casings and spur gear cover if you want to convert back to ‘4’ Gear Gearbox after this mod’.

With the gear box halves together, cut down the ‘Three’ motor plate posts around the layshaft hole, until you get to 18mm total.

Open up the blank side of the gear box half, just until you can fit the layshaft through the hole.

You need to block the now ‘Open’ holes as so Dirt doesn’t entre the gear box. I used a piece of foam and a screw as per the photos.

Fit the Idler gear Insert for ‘3’ gear alignment.

With the halves together, use some 2mm one sided adhesive foam to cut out and make a dirt protector.

Fit a layshaft bearing into the motor plate support housing, and fit as per the photo.

Drill out 3 x M3 nuts with a 3mm Drill Bit. Then use the 3 x Alloy spacers that come with the 4 Gear gearbox, fit the ‘Drilled out’ M3 nuts above the Alloy spacers as per the photo, and attach the motor plate.

Assemble the slipper clutch as normal. Cut away sections of the Spur gear cover until it sits flat and clears the diff outdrive.
