- Serpent Spyder - Install AKA EVO front wheels -

Jared Kirkwood

The SRX-2 has a thin front hex due the suspension geometry Easton choose to use.  The new AKA EVO wheel has a deep hex area.  Due to this deeper hex you can't simply mount the new wheel to the buggy without it rubbing on the steering spindle.

The solution is to simply cut/grind the hex area of the wheel area as pictured.  It takes about 30 sec to cut the hex down and then another minute to clean it up with sharp hobby knife.

I measured several wheels multiple times and the mean offset difference vs the AKA EVO vs the Serpent wheels was .2mm.

On a side note the AKA Hexlight front wheel for AE/Kyosho needs no modification.
