- Schumacher Cougar SV2 - Jason Tahara - Advices and Tips -

Generally the car is quite strong but what I would recommend having with you would be in terms of spares (not necessarily maintenance items like shock rebuild kits etc.)

Some build tips first:

One big tip would be to use a longer screw and locktite the inner threaded ball stud on the top deck that goes to the transmission link.

Also make sure to clean out with motor spray and then locktight any spots where a screw goes into aluminum.

Also a nice thing to try on the undertray to save from going through a lot of bottom plates and rear bumpers...

Before mounting the undertray put a couple small pieces (about 1/3" x 1") of servo tape 2x or 3x up right between the rear hindge pin holder, this does decrease ground clearance a bit but will make your bottom plate last much much longer by making the undertray act as a skid plate for the rear hindge pin holder. And then put one small (about 1/2" x 1") piece between the rear transmission screws on the rear. This will make it so when your rear bumper wears (usually about in one run on our local track at least) the undertray will still be held on nicely from the servo tape and the "worn" bumper can still do the rest of its job just fine for a long time.

Strongly recommend as spares:
Front hubs x 2
Front caster blocks
Rear hubs
Front "z-bend" camberlink ball cups (SVR version, much stronger)
Steering center track link

Good idea to have:
Front and rear arms, (they are very strong IMHO the strongest out) but never a bad idea, things still happen
turnbuckles/ball cups
front bulk head and bottom plate (again you can use the SVR ones are which are stronger)
transmission link set (mainly need the spare inner threaded ball stud).

Nice to have:
Carbon shock towers and link set
acetal idler gear
front and rear bumpers
some hinge pins
