- Team Losi Racing 22 - Bob Zahn - Carpet Setup - 17.11.2012 -

I have a new mid motor setup for my 22 SCT for carpet tracks. My truck was very fast last night and a few small tweaks have made all the difference

Front
35 wt oil, AE 2 hole piston - 1.6mm, black spring, outer on arm and tower, no limiters
1-A camber link, 2mm spacer inside
25 degree kick, 0 deg caster, 4mm trailing, spindle down
EDIT: 29mm ride height
-1 camber, no toe in/ out
Thickest sway bar (pink)

Rear
32.5 wt oil, 55 piston, buggy white spring, 2nd hole in on tower, outside on arm, 3mm limiters
3.0 HRC block, 1mm antisquat
-2 camber, 1-D camber link, 2mm spacer inside and out
Long wheelbase, stock hex
29 mm ride height
Thinnest anti roll bar (white)
60 gram mid motor weight kit

Shorty battery
Viper 13.5 geared 24/76

Schumacher mini pins

Front tires have 3 rows of pins removed on both sides

Outside sidewall has layer of CA glue that also covers top of tire where first row of spikes were

This really helped to eliminate the front tires from digging in. I could really attack the corners and the truck didn't diff out or tip up on two wheels

The truck was turning consistent high 11 second laps in qualifying and managed 11.7 in 2nd qualifier. For the main the truck actually had a bit of a push and laps were low 12's.

After the main I ran some extra laps and dialed in some steering on my radio. I also reduced the exponential and my lap times dipped to 11.5 with a fast lap of 11.4

I'm very happy with how the truck is handling now. I will be trying the AE 2 hole pistons in the rear of the truck for next week.

I'd like to say thank you Bob for posting your setups here it helps me a lot. I do have to change things due to the fact we run different tires for short course but you setups get me very close, fast enough to get the fastest lap of the night at practice. What is the reason you went to 4mm trailing on your new setup?
Your very welcome. I appreciate you visiting my blog. The 4mm trailing axels are stock on the SCT. They atme the steering and take the twitchiness away.

Did you get a chance to try the 2 hole AE pistons in the rear yet?
What's the reason for running the spindles down?

Yes I tried them and I think I went to thick in shock oil. So I'm going to try them with lighter oil next week. I tried 1.6mm pistons with 35 wt oil. Next week I'm going with 30 wt.
Spindles down will give you more steering into the corner but less steering out of the corner. I change this frequently when I need to make a subtle tweak to my setup

Did you use the brass 25 degree kick shim or the plastic one?
Plastic but I plan to try the brass as well as the aluminum pivot.

Bob is this LOSI oil being used? or AE?
Lodi oil is used
