Tires selection depending weather - explanation by Chris Doughty

What tires work??

I think most tires work well for grip, wet and dry. but there are 2 elements to a tire that 'works' one is general grip, the other is how they jump.

Proline tires proberbly have a little less grip in the wet than the normal 'UK' tires like Schumacher and Ballistic's but these are heavier and they jump really well, the car is very blanced in the air and easily controlable.
In the dry Proline tires have good grip all round, in the wet they lack a little grip compared to the schum and BB tires on the astro but they are far better on the wet/damp tarmac sections.

Which Proline tires???

2WD - in the wet - M3 Step-Pin tires are best on the rear
Part number - 8087-02

Front tires - the narrow proline rib gives most steering (four ribs)
Part number - 8175-02

2WD in the Dry - Step-Pin will still be very good, but I tried Bow-Ties and liked them
Part Number - 8186-02

In the dry, I don't think the spike pattern with Proline matters that much, less spike=less grip but there is a lot of grip in the track anyway so you can 'tune' it with different tire patterns.

Other tires worth a try in the dry
Holeshot - 8184-02 - these are the B4 kit tires

4WD - I have not really used there yet, but I would say Holeshots (Front - 8185) all round would be pretty ace.

Proline Inside Job (front - 8203, Rear - 8203) all round might be great if its dry.

Ballistic all round in green compound should be good in the wet.
