TLR040028IGHT-E 3.0 Race Kit Following on from the success of the TLR 8ight 3.0 buggy, the new TLR 8ight-E 3.0 has been developed to meet the specific requirements of the electric 1/8 buggy racer and features many specific design cues that further optimise the legendary 8ight platform and hone it for the specific rigours of electric racing.The bespoke 4mm 7075-T6 hard anodised chassis has been optimised for equal lateral flex characteristics and facilitates the lowest possible mounting of the motor and cells thus lowering the overall centre of gravity to improve handling and direction change.Motor and cell placement is the result of countless hours of testing and development, assisted with the vast repertoire of electric racing knowledge that can only a company with Team Losi Racing’s rich electric off-road heritage can provide.The outcome is simple; the 8ight-E 3.0 is easy to drive FAST – and fast is what it’s all about, from the near instant low-end pick-up to the stupefying high top speeds that today’s 4S 14.8V LiPo batteries and high torque brushless motors enable.And because it’s a TLR, you know that the 8ight-E 3.0 is built to take the rough with the smooth and can handle the abuse that modern 1/8 scale off-road racing tracks dish out. Electric racing epitomises the need for a free-running, low-inertia transmission design and the 8ight-E 3.0 benefits from featuring HD lightened outdrives on all three differentials that keep the rotating mass to an absolute minimum without sacrificing durability or strength.Dog-bone style front and rear centre drive shafts further aid the transmissions’ free-rolling nature to ensure that all of the available torque and power from the motive system is transferred as quickly and efficiently as possible to all four wheels. Large bore, 16mm diameter shock absorbers endow the 8ight-E 3.0 with plush damping that smoothes out the terrain to leave the 8ight-E 3.0’s progress composed and unruffled whilst the adjustable aluminium suspension pivots, included as standard, enable a plethora of subtle geometry changes to the vehicle’s caster, toe, kick and anti-squat angles to ensure that whatever the track conditions, the 8ight-E 3.0 can be dialled in to suit them.Shock Towers feature adjustable roll centre and damper location points that have been optimised and simplified for the needs of the 8ight-E 3.0 and it’s weight distribution as identified by the laser-etched E-logos denoting them as the E-versions and differentiating them apart from the Nitro versions. The 8ight-E 3.0 benefits from the aero-package development from the Nitro version and features a rear wing with adjustable wickerbill whilst the bodyshell also benefits from contemporary, ‘cab-forward’ design with angular edges and the characteristic dorsal fin extending behind the cab to increase high speed stability.It also features integrated cooling channels to duct air into and over the electronics if need be in order to cool them and keep them running optimally. Racers need to understand their racecars with a level of intimacy that can only come from building them.That’s why the 8ight-E 3.0 comes as a kit so that every geometry setting and nut and bolt can be made just so to meet the strict requirements of each owner.And since every track is different and tyres and often defined by the track conditions, we’ve left them out of the kit and replaced them with an extra set of wheels instead.We’ve also left out the Radio equipment, ESC, motor and cells because as racers ourselves, we know that every racer will want to detail their own choice of equipment to suit their needs.
