- Kyosho Ultima SC - Chris Attebery - Nor-Cal Hobbies -

I've been struggling with 2wd in general for almost 2 years and around 6 months with the SC-R. I run at Nor-Cal Hobbies with alot of top level drivers. I've been consistently 2+ laps down in a 16 lap heat.

I finally found the sweet spot for my driving style (AKA none). I need a truck that is neutral to slightly pushes. I also don't do well with a truck that loses rear traction. I think most of us fall into that category.

I started with this setup: Jared Tebo CRCRC 2011.01.15-16

I'm using the -1 degree hubs that Tebo specifies at the bottom of the sheet. I think alot of us blew that off. To this setup I centered the battery, went to 65 rear springs, 14g on the steering rack, 63g in front of the battery in the tray, and 21g behind he battery. This setup is very easy to drive on a medium to high grip track. It's almost perfectly neutral and has alot of forward traction.

Another thing that I've always struggled with is tires. I could not see buying SS tires that might only last a 1-2 races. I finally broke down and bought a set of Panther SS Raptors and they have alot more traction than the Soft Gid Irons I had been running. The nice thing is that since they aren't sliding through every corner they aren't wearing that fast. I should be able to get 2-3 weekends out of the set and I picked up a second per lap.
