*Keilor Invitational Setups B7D /B74.2D/ Reedy 610*

We recently competed at the Keilor Invitational (Reedy style race) with Lachlan Munday finishing P3 in the Invite class and I (Ray)finished P1 in open classes. The Keilor track was super high traction for this event as the oiled dirt surface become very sticky in the hot ambient temperature around 38c/100f using JConcepts silver Ellipse tyres. We had to make a few adjustments to deal with the traction:

  • 2wd battery forward, stiffer springs, heavier oils, raised front axle
  • 4wd stiffer bars, thicker diff and shock oils, raised front roll centre
  • using softening in the esc has been a big improvement in driveability but still allowing aggressive power settings
Note that on 2wd we used a narrower front hex as the cars were marginal to fit through the width box at the track when using JC front wheels and Ellipse tyres.
