The Build – Part 3 – Rear Suspension
Like the front, the rear suspension is all new on the B5M. I like how the rear ballstud mount is now a separate piece; no need to buy (and replace) the entire rear chassis brace. Enough of that, let’s get on with the build.

Build Notes:
- When installing the 2mm ballstuds into the rear ballstud mount, do not overtighten! If you do, you could strip out the plastic, allowing the balls to pull out of the mount much easier.

26
Step 26: The B5M comes with three inner C arm mounts; a 3+1, 3+2 and a 2.5+2. These indicate the toe and anti-squat settings. We’ll be using the 3+1 C mount per the instructions. To make reading them a little easier, I’ve highlighted the number with a silver Sharpie. This is, of course, optional, but makes it very easy to quickly read.

27
Step 27: Attach the C arm mount to the chassis as shown.

28
Step 28: Slide the long, inner hinge pins though the rear suspension arms and into the C arm mount. Note the orientation of the rear arms.

29
Step 29: Slide the D arm mount onto the hinge pins. this may require a little wiggling; flex the hinge pins just a little to make the D mount fit.

30
Step 30: Assemble the rear ballstud mount. Note the orientation of the mount and which side to install the ballstuds.

31
Step 31: Install the shocks mounting screws and wing mounts.

32
Step 32: Attach the rear ballstud mount.

33
Step 33: Slide the rear bumper between the chassis and D arm mount. You may need to flex the D arm mount up slightly to get the bumper to fit.

34
Step 34: Set the rear shock tower assembly into place and secure with the 2 M3x18mm screws. Be sure not to overtighten these screws.

Pretty easy step, right? Good job. Time to move on to the transmission!
