Rob Janssen / Team Magic E4RS4 wins round 6 of Dutch Nationals !

Original report from Rob Janssen:

Last weekend we had our 6th and last round of Nationals here in the Netherlands.

This time at the Technical track of MRM Lelystad. A circuit which people hate or love. Personally I really love it because it is a very technical and challenging track. No mistakes are allowed or your car will fly a few meters ;) !

On Saturday we went there to do some practice runs. As it was just the third race with the new E4RS4 and having lost my set-up from last years race with the E4RS III+ car it was a bit of a guess where to start.

But from the start of I noticed I was doing good and quick lap times and more consistent compared to the others. Jeffrey Jongeling, who helps organizing the Nationals together with me, helped me a lot on Saturday with improving and testing some things. Making the car wider, smaller, more flex, less flex, other springs, other rear diffs, etc. So very soon I had a good car to run.

Ronald and Richard also tried some of the things I noticed worked really well so we all three did good laps at the end of Saturday.

Sunday morning it was a bit of a game changer regarding the weather. It was misty and a lot colder then Saturday. Also putting on new tires is a bit of a ‘gamble’ to have a good or bad set. But after Q1 I noticed a comfortable lead over the rest of the field. I continued this in the rest of the rounds and made TQ for the finals.

For the finals I did a small change in putting some softer front springs for a little more off power steering mid-corner in the high speed corners. This worked good. Final 1 was a easy win for me. Also final 2 was not much of a challenge as the rest of the field had some battles going which costed a lot of time.

Final 3, I decided to not run anymore and see for myself final 3. This was a close battle between Ronald en Sybrand for the lead which was nice to watch!

I already secured the 2017 National title before this race, but it felt good to end the season with a win again!

I really enjoyed driving the car which felt great!
