New setup for high grip (ETS-) carpet, tested last week at Racing Arena Limburg

Christian Holmström: Great! Is it possible to get the down stop values in mm from top of axle to setup board?
David Ehrbar: We do not use this value, as it depends on camber setting, and if camber is not zero, it is also different on the inside and outside of the axle.

Christian Holmström: What droop gauge do you use?

David Ehrbar: You can use a higjt gauge for 1/12th and just put the chassis flat on the table.
And I am using some plain gauge blocks in 0.5, 1 and 2 mm, so I can setup anything between 0 and 3.5mm in 0.5mm steps

Patrick Gerdes: Do you have the carbon plate under the steering also installed? Because it's out of the setup sheet yes cannot be seen or am I missing something?
David Ehrbar: It is installed

Rasmus Tobias Callesen: Do you always use the 1 hole heave damper setting for carpet?
David Ehrbar: Last indoor season I did a lot of tests also with more holes. But in recent tests we prefered the 1-hole

Rasmus Tobias Callesen: Okay, and always around the 1500 oil thickness? And what about the spring rates? I have tested the car at my hometrack now, and have been getting quite a bit of pickup on the rear end of the chassis. I would think it is due to the soft heave spring, when comparing to conventional cars. Then under acceleration it would dip the rear end, but could see that you are using the standard springs also for modified.

David Ehrbar: We were using the 5.5 almost all the time all around. But a harder rear is always something to consider.

Rasmus Tobias Callesen: I'll test it when I get the harder springs ☺ Tomorrow I'll try and change droop settings on the front, to lessen the weight transfer. And also harder heave oil. I'm currently running 3000 and 2 holes, that should be very similar to 1 hole and 1500 correct?

David Ehrbar: 3000 with 2 holes is harder than 1500 with 1 hole because of some of the oil is flowing between the piston and the housing. For smooth surfaces however you can use pretty hard heave damper oil to control the on/off-throttle response. For bumpy tracks it must be rather soft, around 1500 to start with.

Rasmus Tobias Callesen: Okay, thank you for the clarification and help. It is great that you are in here and helping ☺

Rasmus Tobias Callesen: Is it correct that you are running 1 mm caster in the rear? You shortened the rear wheelbase but did not change the upper arm position?
David Ehrbar: The fisrst idea is to keep the upright vertical. So I usually change the caster clips, too

Rasmus Tobias Callesen: That's also what I would have guessed, but I think you forgot to do it on the setupsheet, and that's why I asked
