Top Schumacher UK driver Paul Pinkney sent us this report about the Rug Racers Championship and in particular the final round of the series which saw an excellent win for the Mi4CXL.

"Last weekend held the final round of the RugRacers UK 2011/12 championship. 95 drivers had competed in the 13.5t open class and it was down to the wire to find out who was going to take top honours.

Corally driver Mark Fuller had covered all 5 rounds so far, so only needed to finish 3rd or higher to take the overall win. I had only covered 3 rounds so this left me with the challenge of taking TQ and both A Final wins to stand a chance of overall victory.

Loaded with my New Speed Passion/Demon powered Schumacher MI4cxl I was feeling confident and after 4 rounds of qualifying I had secured TQ over Mark. My team mate Ashley Wiffen put his New Mi4CXL 3rd on the grid which locked out the top 3 spots.

The Finals started smooth for me and feeling confident with the car I was able to open a lead up on the rest of the chasing field. Mark made a mistake promoting Ash into 2nd place but this was short lived as they had a coming together and Ash ended up being turned round. This left me to cruise to a first leg win with the new car feeling sorted and with Mark finishing 5th this meant that whoever won the last final would become series champion.

As we lined up on the grid for the last race of the series Ash had to unfortunately sit out this one due to electronics failure so this allowed breathing space behind Mark so we could go at it for the win.

The buzzer went and we both got a clean start, after the first lap I was able to settle down and gradually build a lead over 2nd place, then we started hitting the traffic! This backed me up allowing Mark to mount a second challenge for the lead which ended up nose to tail action all the way to a nail biting finish. My Mi4CXL took its 2nd win in its first full outing which gave me the 2011/12 Sweep Rug Racers championship.

My new Mi4CXL performed faultlessly all day with very little setup change required and no failures which is the sign of a great car. I’m really looking forward to the final round of EWS in Essex this coming weekend where I plan to mount a challenge for the title here too.

I would like to say a big thanks to the Schumacher team for their continuous development work and the ‘second to none’ support they provide to team drivers and the sport. I would also like to thank Demon Power Products, Slikks Graphics and John Painter (www.UKRCRacer.co.uk) for his pictures and vids."

Congratulations to Paul on the excellent victory in the series from all at Schumacher!
