After a successful first season with the RC12 R6 it's great to see interest for the car remaining high - and growing too! Plenty of enquiries from drivers looking to run the car next year :)

One of the most commonly asked questions is "What do I need apart from the kit?" so we thought we'd have a bit of a rundown of the parts that the team use to build theirs:

AS4021 RC12 R6 Kit - kinda important this one!

AS4790 Black Side Spring - we find this suits most UK tracks and is our normal starting point.

AS8425 Kingpin Shims - there are some included in the kit but the front springs will compress after a few runs so you'll need these to remove the droop.

FAST142-4 2mm Shim OR AS31383 2mm Shim - use these under the steering ballstud in the front hub to reduce bumpsteer.

AS31284 8mm Ballstud OR AS31292 8mm TiNi Ballstud - these are used to replace the kit 5mm ballstuds in the front hubs; the 5mm ones work but when used with a 2mm shim don't offer much thread engagement. Using a ballstud with a longer thread offers greater reliability.

KP199 76t Spur Gear (13.5t motors) OR KP209 88t Spur Gear (6.5t motors) - the kit is supplied with a 96t spur gear best suited to open modified. Fitting either of these will allow a better range of gearing for your chosen class.

KP114 Small Servo Saver (25t) - the kit is supplied with a KP113 23t small servo saver, so is fine if you're planning on using a Sanwa or KO servo. If you want to use Futaba or Savox you'll need the 25t version.

AS4744 Front Brace - this is a tuning option but it's commonly used on higher bite tracks.

That's it in terms of the parts used during the build, though you might want to add the AS4742 and AS4743 front ride height shims to your shopping list too - although you get washers in the kit to tune the ride height the shims allow for faster changes trackside.

Don't forget to check out the build guide that we produced to help the kit assembly too.
