- Alexander Hagberg - Tech Tips - Rear Wing Installation -

This week I will explain a useful trick about mounting the rear wing! By opening the hole for the wing mounting up to 4.5mm, it gives you the possibility to quickly move the wing forward or backwards without making additional holes in the shell. Simply untighten the nut, and push it forward or backwards in between runs!

As can be seen in the picture, the wing has been moved more than 3mm using this method. The wing position is a powerful tuning tool, as it has a strong influence over the balance between front and rear traction. By just moving the wing a couple of millimetres forward, you greatly improve steering response, but of course, at the expense of some rear traction. The screw must be supported by an oversized shim at the bottom of the wing mount, for secure mounting (see picture).

I usually start off with the wing mounted in a neutral position, and adjust it's position according to how the car feels on the track. It's almost as important as the actual body mounting position. Take care when mounting the wing, make sure to put your calipers to good use, by checking that the wing is completely centered as well!

The wing buttons in use here are from T-Works, the titanium screws are from HIRO SEIKO, and the wing is the PROTOform Pro-TC High Downforce wing!
